Farming Simulator 25 Goats: Everything You Need to Know!
Have you ever imagined life as a goat farmer? Now’s your chance to dive in with Farming Simulator 25! The latest release introduces goats as a brand-new addition to the animals you can raise. From setting up their shelter to feeding, breeding, and even milking them, there’s so much to discover. The good news? Goats are surprisingly easy to care for once you know the ropes. Even better, I’ve got you covered—this page explains everything you need to master goat farming in the game!
How to Farm Goats
You’ll need to do a few things in Farming Simulator 25 in order to get goats and keep them productive:
Build a pen
Buy goats
Feed goats
Water goats
If that’s all good, all you need to do then is wait and you should get milk and more goats in time.
How to Build a Goat Pen
To do this:
Enter the build menu (shift + p)
Select the animals icon
Hit the arrow to navigate to sheep
Pick a home
If you go with a barn you won’t have to supply water to the goats.
How to Buy Goats
To do this:
Walk up to the icon by the barn or pasture
Open animal dialogue (R)
Select the goats you want and how many
Buy
You can buy goats that are 0, 3 and 16 months old. Older ones are more expensive but can breed and produce milk once healthy. Goats take 16 months to reach puberty and have a gestation period of 5 months.
Note that buying in the above method is the simplest option, but there’s a transport fee per animal. If you’re going to buy lots of goats, you may prefer to buy an animal transport and collect them from the animal dealer. See my video above for more info on that.
How to Feed Goats
Goats eat grass and hay. If the meadow is big enough they will eat the grass in there and that will help their health. It is best to also give them hay or grass.
You can buy hay at the shop or make it yourself.
To buy hay:
Open the shop (P)
Click on vehicles
Go to objects / bales
Buy hay
You’ll need to transport it back to your farm. Easiest is to use a tractor with a front loader and pallet fork.
Another option is to grow grass on your farm and either collect and feed that or let it dry to hay first.
Once you’ve got the hay or grass, drive up to the goat pen and drop it in the food section.
How to Water Goats
If you built your goats a barn, they will get water automatically. If not, you’d need to buy a water transport and collect water on your farm. See my video how to get water in Farming Simulator 25.
How to Get Goat Milk
Once you have adequate water and food for your goats, simply wait. If the goats are old enough they will start to produce milk. It’s possible you may need a barn as the goats home to ensure milk is produced. I built a barn so bear that in mind if the milk’s not appearing.
Milk should eventually appear on a pallet next to the goat barn. You can then collect that and sell it or take it to a dairy for further processing.
How to Breed Goats
Simply ensure that the goats have plenty of food and water and then wait. I show this in the main guide video at the top of the page. The gestation period for goats is 5 months. By default, Farming Simulator 25 game days are one month. So ensure the goats are old enough to reproduce and then wait a further 5 months.
How to Sell Goats
You can either do this at the goat barn by opening the animal dialogue or by loading animals on to an animal transport and taking them to the animal dealer. That latter saves a transport fee per animal, but you have the cost of the transport vehicle to consider.
To sell via animal dialogue:
Go to barn and open animal dialogie (R)
Click the sell icon on the middle left hand side of the page
Select the goats to sell
Click the sell button
